About
Founded in 1911, the American Society of Safety Professionals is the oldest professional safety organization. It has more than 38,000 members that manage, supervise, and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government, and education. ASSP has 39 practice sections, 150+ chapters, 40 sections, 74 student sections, and 9 U.S and global regions. ASSP creates publications on given safety topics and has been influential with the creation of a few ANSI (American National Standard Institute) standards that pertain to Occupational Safety and Health. ASSP provides members with education, advocacy, and a professional community in order to advance their careers and the occupational safety and health profession as a whole.
